"Love is patient, love is kind, is not jealous; love does not brag and is not arrogant, does not act unbecomingly; it does not seek its own, is not provoked, does not take into account a wrong suffered, does not rejoice in unrighteousness, but rejoices with the truth; bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never fails."

At first, these lines may seem to be taken straight out of a romance novel and if you are of the same opinion, then you are not entirely mistaken. It is from a book which speaks about one man's love for the entire world, the Holy Bible. Quite paradoxically, the first time I came across these lines, it was in the book, "A Walk to Remember" by Nicholas Sparks and I was a soppy "lovey-dovey" teenager then. The minute I read these lines, I knew that these had to be my most favourite romantic lines and I memorized the lines and would quote them wherever I could.

I did not realize until now, the gravity and the profound meaning of these words. W-O-R-D......just a four-letter word in itself, it has the capacity to make or break lives. In the history of creation in the Bible, it was God's word that created the entire Universe and everything in it and at the time of marriage, it is the couple's word of acceptance that unites them together for the rest of their lives. It is the doctor's word that heralds the beginning of life and it is the doctor's word that often seals one's life.

Dwelling along the same line, I know now that my life revolves around the Word. Many are driven by success, purpose or satisfaction but the Word is definitely the fuel in my engine and the stimulus that keeps me going. The pun on the word, "Word", is fascinating and I haven't noticed it before!. "Word" could mean the entity that is formed when sounds are combined or from a Christian perspective it could mean the Word of God. Irrespective of their etymology, the power of words is undeniable. Words can be used to slander or to praise,to accept or to reject, to persuade or to dissuade....... its capacities are enormous. Words, being the only thing you cannot take back in this world, must be used prudently; but we often find ourselves in a pot of boiling soup all because of our choice of words. Watch that Right to freedom of expression, buddy!.

A word can bring about a change, make somebody smile, save a life, unite people, spread love and joy; it can mould, forgive, comfort, appreciate, encourage, instill faith and can empower us to face the battles of life and be the lonely ranger even if the entire world chooses to walk out on us. Just as each word is a tiny drop in the vast ocean of words, so are we, a single grain in the granary of life. Each grain is bestowed with the ability to give rise to new life, a life in all its fullness; it is upto us to discern for ourselves what we want to do with this gift - to fill the earth and bring it to birth or to just let it die with us.
